Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Focused on 1 Thing Amid Slow Start

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had encouraging things to say after a win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts spoke about the team's progress after a 34-28 win at home on Thursday Night Football over the Minnesota Vikings. Safe to say that the Eagles haven't reached their Super Bowl standard yet, and Hurts is well aware.

“We are a work in progress," Hurts said. "We search for progress, not perfection. We have a standard. We are going to continue to chip away. The only thing that matters is winning.”

Hurts seems to have a knack for winning, as he has now led the Eagles to a 19-1 record in his last 20 starts. The only other quarterbacks to do that in the Super Bowl era are Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning and Jim McMahon.

As a starting quarterback in the NFL, Hurts has a career record of 25-11 after the win over Minnesota.

1681574442-1

Against the Vikings, Hurts was 18-of-23 for 193 passing yards, one touchdown and an interception while adding 35 yards and two touchdowns with his legs. As the year progresses, he has begun to look more and more like the MVP-caliber quarterback he was last season when he accumulated 35 total touchdowns.

Before the Week 1 win over the New England Patriots, he hadn't played in an NFL game since the Super Bowl LVII loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, he has played two games in a span of five games, and won both. Philadelphia will have 11 days of rest before it plays in its next game in Week 3.

Hurts and the Eagles will head on the road to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 25 at 7:15 p.m. The game will be on ESPN for Monday Night Football, and will be their second straight prime time game following the TNF win.
