Eagles Ex Javon Hargrave Scouted by 49ers Nick Bosa: ‘The Best!’?
Among the 300 non-quarterbacks who switched teams through free agency or trades this offseason, former Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Javon Hargrave emerged with the highest average annual value contract. The San Francisco 49ers secured his services with a four-year deal worth $84 million.
Hargrave's addition strengthens the 49ers' defensive line, which simultaneously boasts the reigning 2022 Defensive Player of the Year, Nick Bosa, who is highly impressed by his new teammate.
"I'm super excited," Bosa said. "We've been watching tape on him the past few years in Philly and I think every time we watch him, [defensive line coach Kris Kocurek] raves about him. We think of him as one of the best interior guys in the league, especially rushing the passer, and to have him on our side is going to be a huge addition for us."
Last season in Philadelphia, Hargrave played a pivotal role as a cornerstone of the NFL's top pass-rushing unit. He achieved a career-high 11 sacks, placing him among four Eagles players who reached double-digit sack numbers. Additionally, Hargrave's contributions were instrumental in propelling the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII despite experiencing a heartbreaking 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
With Hargrave joining the 49ers roster, the upcoming Eagles-49ers matchup in Week 13 is poised to escalate in intensity. This game carries significant weight, as it serves as a highly-anticipated rematch of last season's NFC Championship, where the Eagles cruised by San Francisco in an impressive 31-7 win.
The addition of Hargrave to the mix adds an extra layer of anticipation, heightening the stakes and excitement surrounding this eagerly-awaited showdown.
