NFL Draft: Eagles Pick Dynamic Pair, Address Trench Needs

Games are won and lost in the trenches, and the Philadelphia Eagles could get two of the best in this year's NFL Draft to help them dominate up front.

The Philadelphia Eagles turned the quarterback sneak into an art form last season and that fact - in part - helped launch them to the Super Bowl. 

But you can never get too much talent up front, and if the Eagles target their ideal pairing of NFL Draft picks as outlined by NFL.com, they'll continue to be teaching trench warfare specialists. 

According to the site, Georgia Bulldogs edge defender Nolan Smith and North Dakota State Bison offensive lineman Cody Mauch are the two Philadelphia would be best served to come away with.

"Smith is a bit undersized as an edge," says NFL.com. "But his speed (4.39 40) and strong hands remind me of Haason Reddick when he came out of Temple. The Eagles would love to pair Smith and Reddick on their front. Mauch's versatility and nastiness as a blocker would allow him to compete for the starting right guard spot in Philly as a rookie and replace Andre Dillard as the backup left tackle."

With two first-round picks in this year's NFL Draft, the Eagles are in a unique position as a team coming off a trip to the Super Bowl that also has a top-10 selection to make. 

While many mocks have projected Philadelphia to go defense with both picks, this is a newer take that secures both frontline units on either side of the football. 

It's hard to be a bad NFL team when you're strong up front, and this pairing ensures the Eagles will be just that for years to come.
