Eagles LB Nakobe Dean's 'Super' Goals Beyond Football Revealed
Philadelphia Eagles' 2022 third-round pick, Nakobe Dean, is currently striving to secure the team's long-term starting linebacker position. Simultaneously, he is putting in equal effort to pursue his ambitions beyond the football field.
Following his contribution to Georgia's College Football Playoff National Championship victory in 2021, Dean left school a season ahead of his senior year to enter the draft. Consequently, he departed college without completing his academic obligations to graduate.
However, according to Georgia's athletic website, the 22-year-old linebacker has returned to school as he looks to earn a mechanical engineering degree. Dean wants to use his degree to create a business specializing in the design and construction of prosthetics.
As the linebacker focuses on shaping a promising future beyond his NFL career, Georgia's assistant athletic director of academics, Cory Kopaniasz, disclosed that Dean's approach to studying remains consistent with his time as a student-athlete.
"He'd get out of team meetings, and while everybody else went on to do other things, he opened up his laptop and got to work," Kopaniasz said. "He was able to balance the two, and that's super impressive."
Kopaniasz also revealed that after the Eagles advanced to Super Bowl LVII following their dominant 38-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship, instead of celebrating with his teammates after the game, Dean was fixated on obtaining the correct calculator for one of his classes.
"It was so much on his mind that I remember he called me after they won the NFC Championship Game," Kopaniasz said. "He called me within like an hour of the game ending because he wanted to know how to get the calculator he needed for one of his classes."
As Dean gears up for his second NFL season, he looks ahead to a promising future with the Eagles while setting his sights on success in his off-field pursuits.
