Eagles’ Nick Sirianni Helps Start 76ers Run in NBA Playoffs

Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni rang the bell before the Philadelphia 76ers’ Game 1 matchup against the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Ringing the Liberty Bell has been a notorious tradition of the Philadelphia 76ers. The team uses the bell-ringing ceremony to get fans enthusiastic before opening tip-off.

To be given the honor of ringing the bell is one of Philadelphia's highest ways of showing respect, as the tradition has become a staple in the 76ers culture. Former 76ers head coach Brett Brown even started doing a postgame bell-ringing after a victory because the ceremony became so beloved in the city.

Many Philadelphia Eagles superstars, such as Jason Kelce, Jalen Hurts, Hasson Reddick, Jordan Davis, Brandon Graham, and Darius Slay, have taken part in this tradition.

Before the Sixers' opening playoff game against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena, it was Eagles coach Nick Sirianni's turn to ring the bell.

Philadelphia fans abrupted when Sirianni took the center court with his wife, Brett Ashley Cantwell, and three children, Jacob, Taylor, and Miles.

Sirianni was sporting a trendy white old-school 76ers jacket that generated a bit of Twitter buzz during the game.

Eagles legend Brandon Graham was also in attendance at the game and was able to excite the crowd during his cameo on the jumbotron.

The 76ers hope to fair better during the playoffs than the Eagles did in the postseason. The Eagles reached Super Bowl LVII but fell short as they were defeated 38-35 by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 76ers have not won the NBA championship since 1983 and haven’t reached the Eastern Conference Finals since 2001.

The team is currently led by NBA MVP finalist Joel Embiid, who led the NBA with 33.1 points per game during the regular season.
