Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts 'Changed Game With His Mind' vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts apparently called an audible late in the fourth quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs on a crucial play.

With 6:55 left in the game and the Philadelphia Eagles trailing 17-14 to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday at Arrowhead, Philly quarterback Jalen Hurts launched a deep ball down the right sideline that was caught by DeVonta Smith at the 1-yard line. 

Hurts finished off the job with a one-yard rushing touchdown on the signature Brotherly Shove play that ended up being the go-ahead score in a 21-17 comeback win over the Chiefs. 

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said after the game that Hurts’ pass to Smith was the result of a timely audible at the line of scrimmage, which ended up changing the game and giving the Eagles another gutsy win. 

"DeVonta and AJ had a huge, huge play that Jalen actually checked to," Sirianni said. "It was a heck of a check, Jalen just sees some great things out there. He did a phenomenal job. He checked to that, and it ended up being the right call at the right moment and that's what good quarterbacks do. Quarterbacks, they make three or four plays that change the game with their mind. They gotta do a great job throwing the ball, running the show, but they make three to four checks a game with their mind that can make big differences and Jalen did that today." 

Hurts' connection with Smith set the Eagles offense up in a prime position to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. Squander the opportunity they did not, as Hurts gave the Eagles the lead for good.

The defense took care of the rest, stopping the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes from scoring in the second half and securing a huge win against the defending Super Bowl champions. 

Smith was Philadelphia's leading receiver, hauling in six receptions on eight targets for 99 yards. Hurts finished the game 14 of 22 passing for 150 yards while rushing for 29 yards and two touchdowns.

After the game concluded, Hurts became the odds-on favorite to win NFL MVP, dethroning Mahomes as Week 11 came to an end.
