Philadelphia Eagles Among Trio of Teams Wearing Alternate Uniforms in Week 7
The Philadelphia Eagles Kelly Green uniforms will make their long-awaited return against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday Night Football this week, and that's not the only notable alternate jersey being worn around the NFL in Week 7.
For the second year in a row, the New York Giants are wearing their throwback blue uniforms with "Giants" written across a navy blue helmet for two "Legacy Games." The first of those -- which will see the Giants wear throwbacks that they originally wore from 1980-1999 -- will come Sunday as New York hosts the Washington Commanders.
Elsewhere, the Colts will debut their controversial "Indiana Nights" uniforms -- which feature a black helmet with a blue horseshoe -- against the Cleveland Browns. Ironically, the game will start at 1 p.m. ET.
Unquestionably, though, the Kelly Green uniforms are by far the most-anticipated uniforms set to be worn in Week 7. This is the first of two times the Eagles will wear Kelly Green in 2023, as they also plan to do so for their Week 12 tilt with the Buffalo Bills at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles last wore Kelly Green in Week 1 of the 2010 season, as they honored the 50th anniversary of their NFL Championship victory over the Green Bay Packers. While that shade of Kelly Green paid homage to an earlier variation, the throwbacks set to be worn Sunday by the Eagles are based on the primary uniforms that Philadelphia sported from 1985-1995.
Kelly Green was the primary color for the Eagles from 1935-1995. In 1996, the Eagles unveiled what's now known as Midnight Green.
Unfortunately from an aesthetics standpoint, the Dolphins don't plan to counter with their white throwback tops, which they plan to wear for two home games later this season. Instead, the Dolphins will rock their primary white tops, which were introduced prior to the 2013 season.
