The Philadelphia Eagles put on a performance Monday night with a 25-11 road win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the process, they made a statement to the rest of the NFC.

A big part of that statement was via the efforts of Philly running back D'Andre Swift, who had yet another big night. He finished with 130 yards rushing on 16 carries, and yes, for you math wizards, that's an average of 8.1 yards per carry.  And it's not an anomaly.

Last week in the Eagles' 34-28 win over the Vikings, Swift registered 175 yards on 28 carries. He didn't record a score on the ground in Tampa, but that wasn't necessary, as quarterback Jalen Hurts handled that, and it was all Philly needed in the win.

Swift was a major part of the Eagles' win on Monday night, as they dominated the run game. On the other side, the Philly defense allowed just 41 yards on the ground, and 133 through the air.

The Eagles outgained the Bucs 472-174 on offense. That's taking into account two turnovers and a 1-of-5 performance in the red zone in Tampa.

There are still a lot of areas to improve as the season rolls on, but the important thing is Philly is in first place in the NFC East.

Swift should be one of the biggest parts of the Eagles' season moving forward, with games against the Washington Commanders and Los Angeles Rams in the next two weeks. Philadelphia has a stronghold on the division, with a full-game lead over the Dallas Cowboys - who lost in miserable fashion to the Arizona Cardinals - and the Commanders, whom they face on Sunday at home in a Week 4 division battle.
