In this story:

In New England, they are still painting and portraying Bill Belichick as an all-knowing all-powerful czar who deserves to get whatever he wishes.

We still think it's weird that anybody who watched his New England Patriots flounder for the last almost-half-decade in the post-Tom Brady continues to believe in the mythology.

But they do. And clearly, while Belichick was considered as a candidate to be the next head coach of the Falcons before Raheem Morris got the job on Thursday, Atlanta brass did not believe the mythology.

And now? Oh no! Coach Belichick is "pissed''!

During an appearance on NBC Sports Boston, Greg Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal offered his insight into Belichick's thinking about the process.

"I think Bill thought he had the Falcons in his back pocket," Bedard said. "Arthur Blank - I know - certainly wanted to hire Bill early in the process, but got away from him because Arthur Blank is one of those guys who listens to everybody."

What we know: Falcons owner Blank took a number of things into consideration before moving on from Belichick, including the 71-year-old's plan to be "all-powerful,'' as was the case during his six-Super Bowl-winning reign in New England.

BREAKING: Falcons Say No to Belichick, Hire Rams' Morris as Head Coach

And in the end, the Falcons told the most accomplished coach of all-time ... "No.'' As a result?

"I think he's pissed,'' Bedard said. "I think he's really upset about this. I think he had this job.''

And maybe it is that exact sort of arrogance that cost him this job.
