Atlanta Falcons Add Punter Bradley Pinion to Injury Report, Elevate 2 vs. Tennessee Titans
After failing to disclose running back Bijan Robinson's game-limiting headache a week ago, the Atlanta Falcons are taking no chances entering Sunday's road game against the Tennessee Titans.
The Falcons announced Saturday that punter Bradley Pinion has been added to the injury report due to an undisclosed illness. He's officially listed as questionable to play in Nashville.
As a result of Pinion's illness, the Falcons signed punter Pat O'Donnell to the practice squad and subsequently elevated him to the active roster ahead of Sunday's contest.
Linebacker Andre Smith Jr. has also been elevated to the active roster after Tae Davis was ruled out with a concussion. Smith Jr. is expected to take a large role on special teams, as Davis has played 84 percent of Atlanta's snaps in the game's third phase.
In correspondence to the additions, the Falcons released linebacker Donovan Muti from the practice squad and receiver Keilahn Harris from practice squad injured reserve.
The biggest story surrounding Atlanta's news release is the status of Pinion, who's enjoying a career-year in terms of yards per punt (47.4), net yards per punt (42.1) and yards per kickoff (65.1).
O'Donnell is expected to be insurance as the Falcons will likely evaluate Pinion's status in the morning.
Since entering the league in 2014, O'Donnell has played in all but one possible game. He spent the first eight years of his career with the Chicago Bears before punting for the Green Bay Packers last season.
The 32-year-old O'Donnell has career averages of 45.1 yards per punt and 39.2 net yards per punt. He had only one touchback on punts last season.
Historically, O'Donnell has primarily served as a punter and holder; he has just 21 career kickoff attempts, with 15 coming in 2019.
The Falcons and Titans are set to kick off at 1 p.m. EST inside Nissan Stadium.
