Falcons RB Bijan Robinson 'Shoo-In for 1,000-Plus' Yards?
The Atlanta Falcons were home to one of the NFL best rushing attacks a season ago.
Despite finding a steal in on Day 3 in last year's NFL Draft in Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta opted to strengthen the unit right away this time around - selecting Texas product Bijan Robinson No. 8 overall. Robinson, the reigning Doak Walker Award winner, earned unanimous All-American honors last season after rushing for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns while averaging over six yards per carry.
So could Atlanta make it back-to-back rookies surpassing over 1,000 yards on the ground? Yardbarker identified its potential breakout player from all 32 NFL teams and listed Robinson as the option for the Falcons.
"The Falcons were a run-heavy team last season and are set to lean in on that tendency after selecting Robinson eighth overall in the draft," Yardbarker writes. "He will lead a strong Atlanta backfield and is a shoo-in for 1,000-plus rushing yards if he stays healthy."
By taking Robinson in the first round, Atlanta is doubling down on its already-elite rushing attack.
Leading the NFL in attempts (559), while ranking third in yards (2718) and fourth in YPC (4.9), Atlanta relied heavily on its run game, including a team-leading 1,035 yards from Allgeier.
Allgeier, a fifth-round pick last season was one of three rookies to crack the 1,000+ threshold, joining the Kenneth Walker III (Seattle Seahawks) and Travis Etienne (Jacksonville Jaguars).
With Allgeier and Robinson leading the way, both are expected to make a major difference for the Falcons this season.
