BREAKING: Falcons Schedule Second Interview With Bill Belichick
The Atlanta Falcons and Bill Belichick appear to be on a collision course as the team's brass will host him for a second interview this weekend, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Belichick previously met one-on-one with Falcons owner Arthur Blank last week, and that meeting obviously went well enough to schedule a follow-up.
The rumors connecting Belichick and the Falcons have been in full force for weeks now, and at this point, those rumors are looking more and more like reality.
Belichick, 71, needs no introduction to any NFL fan. The legendary coach helped turn the New England Patriots into the greatest dynasty the league has ever seen, winning six Super Bowls in his 24 years with the club. One of those championships came at Atlanta's expense, as New England infamously overcame a 28-3 deficit in Super Bowl LI to win 34-28 in overtime.
Over the past few years, though, Belichick and the Patriots' luster has worn off a bit. In the four years since quarterback Tom Brady left, the Patriots made just one playoff appearance and have not won a postseason game. The team's struggles came to a head this season, when New England finished 4-13 for its worst season in 30 years.
ESPN Predicts Falcons Coach: Belichick Or The Field?
With other teams interested in Belichick appearing to go in other directions, Atlanta seems like the runaway favorite to secure his services. If that is indeed the case, as it appears to be, then all the Falcons need to do is close the deal.
