Falcons Hosting QB C.J. Stroud Today; Is Atlanta ‘Cool’?
The Atlanta Falcons continue to do "homework" on the 2023 NFL Draft's top quarterbacks - the latest of which involves Ohio State's C.J. Stroud.
According to NFL Network, Stroud is in Atlanta for a top-30 visit Wednesday, the last day teams can host such meetings.
It's the second time the Falcons have met with Stroud, the first of which came formally at the NFL Combine, where he met general manager Terry Fontenot, coach Arthur Smith and offensive coordinator Dave Ragone - and left with positive impressions of each.
"It went very, very well," Stroud said. "Had a great interview with them. They were real fiery in there. They were kind of like big kids - they were kind of cool, but at the same time asking really good questions and being very honest. I appreciated that."
Stroud, 21, is viewed as a candidate to be selected No. 1 overall by the Carolina Panthers - but reportedly isn't a safe bet to be drafted in the top three selections, and with Alabama signal caller Bryce Young trending towards being Carolina's pick, Stroud's future is uncertain.
The Arizona Cardinals, who hold the No. 3 selection, are interested in trading down - could the Falcons be their match? Per ESPN, it would take a "dream" situation for Atlanta to draft a quarterback in the first round, with speculation centering around Stroud or Young inexplicably falling to No. 8.
However, should Stroud have a stellar visit, perhaps that "dream" includes moving up for the two-time Heisman Trophy finalist.
The answer will come Apr. 27, when the draft kicks off in Kansas City, Mo.
