Mecole Hardman 'Bracing to' Leave Chiefs; Could Falcons Sign Georgia Star?
The wide receiver position is a potential area of improvement that the Atlanta Falcons could identify this offseason. After finding success out of rookie first-round pick Drake London in 2022, adding a No. 2 wideout should be a priority.
While the upcoming free agency class doesn't look to have a standout No. 1 guy, they seem to have a number of potential contributors for the Falcons to choose from. Kansas City Chiefs wideout Mecole Hardman could be one of those options.
According to ESPN, the Chiefs are "bracing to lose" Hardman in free agency as he explores other opportunities, and the Falcons could be one that entices the former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver.
The 2022 season did not go the way that many expected it for Hardman after the Chiefs traded Tyreek Hill away to the Miami Dolphins. With Hill, the former No. 1 option in Kansas City, gone, many looked to Hardman to help fill the void. However, he played in just eight games before suffering a season-ending groin injury.
Hardman would give the Falcons another deep threat who possesses elite speed to get over the top of the defense. Adding a vertical threat like Hardman to the offense would help draw attention away from London and Kyle Pitts.
Since being drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Hardman racked up 2,088 yards and 16 touchdowns on 151 receptions in 57 games.
After ranking 31st in passing yards per game at 158.8 yards, Hardman makes for an interesting option for the Falcons as a free agent signing.
