'They've Got Some Guys!': Justin Fields Scouts Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons desperately need a change at quarterback this offseason, and for a while now, Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears has been a popular choice to address that need.
Fields is not only native to the Atlanta area, but it seems very likely that he will be on the move this offseason. The Bears have the first overall pick once again, and while they took a massive haul to trade down last year, it seems more likely that they will take a quarterback (probably USC's Caleb Williams) with that pick this time around.
The Falcons have been one of the top suitors for Fields, not just because they're his hometown team, but because even a small upgrade at quarterback could make a world of difference.
On The 33rd Team's St. Brown Brothers podcast, Fields spoke about the prospect of coming home and the team he'd be joining.
"Atlanta would be tough. The only con of going back home is phone like crazy, you know wanting tickets to the game. I think they got a lot of playmakers on the team. Bijan [Robinson], my boy Kyle [Pitts] and of course Drake [London]. They probably need one more receiver but they've definitely got some guys over there."
Fields also mentioned on the podcast that his preference is to stay in Chicago, but if that's not an option, then Atlanta could be a good fit.
Robinson, Pitts and London would indeed give Fields a solid set of weapons to work with right away, much better than anything he's had with the Bears. If the Falcons were to add another receiver as Fields suggests, that's all the better.
Vikings' Kirk Cousins to Falcons in Free Agency?
Trading for Fields could cost a large sum, but with the Falcons seemingly being a quarterback away from the playoffs, it would be a risk well worth taking.
