Falcons at Dolphins Live Blog: Atlanta Takes Home The Victory
Atlanta Falcons football is officially back as the team is set to take on the Miami Dolphins in Game 1 of the NFL preseason on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET in Hard Rock Stadium.
The Falcons and Dolphins held joint practices together on Tuesday and Wednesday, leading up to their preseason openers. Atlanta's new defensive coordinator, Ryan Nielsen, debuts with the franchise along with 2023 first-round pick Bijan Robinson, who is slated to get his fair share of carries after starting out on the depth chart as the No. 3 running back.
For those unfamiliar with college football, prepare to have your eyes opened when the former Texas Longhorn gets to perform under the Friday night lights against NFL backups.
Robinson will get his carries once the veteran starters have exited the game after the first series or two. The Falcons and their fans will not get a look at second-year quarterback Desmond Ridder on Friday, but they will get the chance to see what backup quarterback Logan Woodside is capable of.
It was also announced ahead of kickoff that Miami would not be starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in Game 1. The Dolphins are expected to go with Skylar Thompson and Mike White.
