NFL Draft: Falcons Meet 'At Length' with Arkansas WR Jadon Haselwood
The Atlanta Falcons have done plenty of work in on the receivers in the 2023 NFL Draft class.
That trend continued at the University of Arkansas’ pro day, where receiver Jadon Haselwood impressed in front of evaluators … before getting to meet with the Falcons.
According to Pro Football Network, Haselwood spoke "at length" with the Falcons during his pro day - in addition to the Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns.
After running a 4.63 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, Haselwood picked up considerable time in front of scouts who made the trip to Fayetteville, timing between 4.47 and 4.54 in addition to looking "terrific" in position drills, per PFN.
Haselwood fits the bill of receivers that Falcons coach Arthur Smith has previously targeted, weighing in at 6-2, 215 pounds with 10-inch hands.
After three seasons at Oklahoma, Haselwood caught 59 passes for 702 yards and three touchdowns in his lone season with the Razorbacks, ranking eighth in program history in single-season receptions.
An Atlanta native, it’s possible Haselwood participates at the Falcons’ local pro day - but it’s a certainty that he’ll have a special emblem next to his name on the draft board.
Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot shared at the NFL Combine that the team puts a peach next to each player who hails from the state of Georgia, ensuring that homegrown talent isn’t overlooked.
In addition to his pro day meeting and Atlanta roots, Haselwood has another tie to the Falcons - he played under their coaching staff at the East-West Shrine Bowl.
A standout for his ability to separate as a route runner, Haselwood proved he could double as both a wideout and punt returner while drawing positive reviews from opposing cornerbacks.
By all accounts, the Falcons have spent plenty of time with Haselwood in the lead up to April’s draft - and could spend even more with him in the coming years.
