Falcons Offseason Dates: When's Rookie Minicamp, OTAs, Training Camp?

A rundown of the Atlanta Falcons' offseason schedule, including rookie minicamp, OTAs and training camp.
In this story:

The Atlanta Falcons haven't made the playoffs since the 2017 season but following a productive offseason featuring several big free agency signings and a solid draft class, optimism is high - as it is for most teams around the league.

Atlanta filled out its roster with the signing of veteran cornerback Tre Flowers, putting a bow on the player acquisition phase of the offseason.

As such, the focus now shifts to dwindling the roster down to 53 come Week 1, a process that will take place over the summer throughout offseason programs ... but when does it all kick off?

Here's a look at the dates ...

Rookie Minicamp: May 12-13

Organized Team Activities (OTAs): May 23-25, May 31 - June 2, June 6-9

Mandatory Minicamp: June 13-15

The Falcons typically don't announce their training camp dates until the conclusion of full-team minicamp, but the first open practice session often takes place during the final weekend of July while players officially report the week prior.

Atlanta's preseason schedule hasn't yet been confirmed, but it's played on the second Friday of August each of the past two years, which currently sits at Aug. 11.

Entering Year 3 under coach Arthur Smith, the Falcons are seeking to build on consecutive 7-10 campaigns after spending over $200 million in free agency and drafting three potential early starters in Texas running back Bijan Robinson, Syracuse offensive guard Matthew Bergeron and Utah cornerback Clark Phillips III.

Will Atlanta take the next step? Only time will tell ... but offseason programs play a big part in setting the stage for the season, and activities are close to picking up.
