Roster Moves: Falcons Sign, Release 7 Players After Minicamp

The Atlanta Falcons have made several roster transactions following minicamp.
In this story:

With minicamp in the rearview mirror, the Atlanta Falcons have their sights set on OTAs, starting May 23 - and in advance of the first full-team session of the year, have made a flurry of roster moves.

Per release, the Falcons signed linebacker Andre Smith, receiver Slade Bolden, offensive lineman Barry Wesley, nose tackle LaCale London and defensive backs Clifford Chattman, Lukas Denis and Natrone Brooks.

In correspondence, Atlanta released outside linebacker David Anenih, running back B.J. Baylor (waived/injured), receiver Ra'Shaun Henry, tight end John Raine and defensive backs Dylan Mabin, Matt Hankins and Javelin Guidry.

The Falcons' 90-man roster remains full following their latest transactions.

Each of the players who were released spent time with the Falcons in some capacity last season, be it the active roster or practice squad.

Smith, Bolden, Chattman and Brooks were participants in Atlanta's minicamp practices, while Wesley, London and Denis signed after the conclusion of the XFL season.

In essence, Atlanta opted for Bolden over Henry, Smith over Anenih, and the trio of Chattman, Denis and Brooks over the duo of Mabin and Guidry.

Of course, it's not a direct swap, but positionally, the Falcons maintained similar personnel, just with new faces entering the next offseason program.

How will it all play out? That remains to be seen - starting with OTAs next Tuesday.
