Falcons' Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier: 'NFL's Best RB Tandem'?

After posting one of the NFL's best rushing attacks last season, the Atlanta Falcons selected Bijan Robinson in the first-round of April's draft.

Recent history suggests a similarity between first-round running backs and 1,000 yard rookie campaigns. Taking a look at NFL Drafts dating back to 2019, five of seven first-year players to crack the threshold were taking within the top-32.

The two outliers? Former Jacksonville Jaguars back James Robinson after going undrafted in 2020 and Atlanta Falcons 2022 fifth-round pick Tyler Allgeier.

And after drafting Bijan Robinson in the first-round this year, the Texas product joins one of the league's top rushing attacks from a season ago, with CBS Sports predicting the duo as the NFL's best heading into 2023.

"Easy to underestimate how well the Falcons ran the ball last season -- and they added Robinson to the mix," CBS Sports writes. "Robinson is expected to be an integral piece in the Falcons' rushing attack, as Atlanta was third in the NFL in rush yards per game (159.9) and second in rush-play percentage (55.3%) last season."

After finishing last season as the NFL's third-best rushing offense, the Falcons now add the college football's best from a season ago. And if recent reports have showcased anything, it's that Robinson and the Falcons are confident in their ability to take it up a notch.

"Allgeier finished with 1,035 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie season, averaging 4.9 yards per carry," CBS Sports writes. "Atlanta doesn't have much on offense, but its run blocking should set up big seasons for Robinson and Allgeier. The duo has the potential to be the best running back tandem in the league."

While the NFL's best may high expectations for a duo that hasn't seen the field together yet, the potential is clear.
