Bijan Robinson's 'Amazing' Private Texts Revealed by Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons as an organization think they have something special in rookie running back Bijan Robinson, and they've believed that since his recent NFL Draft night. But it was that same night when a bunch of his key teammates - the offensive linemen who would end up being his bodyguards - discovered something special about him as well.
“Here’s a cool thing: He texted the offensive line when he got drafted,” Chris Lindstrom said. “He said that he’s really happy to work with us."
Lindstrom, telling the story to the Falcons' official website, was clearly impressed. This was Bijan's big night. He had every reason to celebrate it his way. ... but part of his celebration was collecting from the Falcons the phone numbers of Lindstrom and company.
The former Texas Longhorns star has been outstanding in workouts on the field for Atlanta, a trend that figures to be even more eye-popping once the Falcons get to training camp and Bijan is fully unleashed.
“He’s amazing,” said Lindstrom, the guard who is among Atlanta's best players. “You don’t pay much attention when you’re on the field because you’re doing your job but, when you step back and watch, you can see how good he is. He’s great.”
But frankly, that was all expected by the Falcons when they made the move of taking Robinson No. 8 overall. Yes, we are living in an NFL time during which "the devaluation of the running back'' is a thing. Of course, at $5.25 million APY over the course of his four-year rookie deal, that's not very expensive; indeed, it's a fraction of what Saquon Barkley - to whom Bijan's been compared - is asking for in his contract dispute with the Giants.
But no disputes in Atlanta, where Robison is already revealing leadership traits and character depth ... all symbolized by a text chain.
"I’ve only known him for a little while, but he has been pretty amazing around the building," Lindstrom said. "I think all that speaks to who Bijan is and everything he’s about.”
