The Atlanta Falcons are adding to their wide receiver room Monday.

According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the team is signing former Philadelphia Eagles wideout J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, who participated in the team's minicamp earlier this month.

Arcega-Whiteside, a former Stanford standout, was chosen by the Eagles with the No. 57 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

During his final collegiate season in 2018, he showcased his talents by recording impressive statistics, including 63 receptions for 1,059 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Standing at a substantial 6-2 and weighing 225 pounds, Arcega-Whiteside was highly regarded for his size and basketball-inspired play style, particularly in the red zone, which likely intrigues Falcons coach Arthur Smith, a noted fan of big-bodied wideouts.

The hangup with Arcega-Whiteside is that his transition to the professional level yielded little success.

In his rookie season, Arcega-Whiteside made ten receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown. However, his production dipped in the following years, as he recorded only four catches for 85 yards in 2020 and two catches for 36 yards in 2021.

To explore different opportunities, he attempted to transition from receiver to tight end during the previous offseason ... but he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks before getting an opportunity to showcase his talent in this new role. Unfortunately, he did not have the chance to play a game for the Seahawks.

At just 26 years old, Arcega-Whiteside still possesses potential for development ... and will attempt to prove exactly that to the Falcons this weekend.
