Broncos Sign OT Mike McGlinchey to Massive Contract; Falcons' Kaleb McGary Affected?

The Atlanta Falcons' biggest in-house free agent, offensive tackle Kaleb McGary, could be in for a massive payday after Mike McGlinchey signed with the Denver Broncos.
In this story:

The Denver Broncos are making quite the splash in free agency, signing former San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey.

The deal is worth $87.5 million over five years, according to NFL Network.

McGlinchey, 28, was arguably the best offensive tackle in free agency and he's gone ahead and set the market for the remaining tackles looking to sign, including Atlanta Falcons 2019 first-round pick Kaleb McGary.

The Falcons opted not to use the franchise tag on McGary last week, allowing him to test free agency. A destination that made sense for McGary was the Broncos, but that seems unlikely with McGlinchey heading to Denver.

McGlinchey's contract brings good news for McGary, and likely bad news for the Falcons.

According to Spotrac, McGary is set for a four-year deal worth around $70 million. McGlinchey was expected to make a four-year deal worth around $60 million, about $2.5 million off his Broncos annual average.

This means that McGlinchey either has really good agents or the Broncos overspent, which bodes poorly for the Falcons.

However, Atlanta has money to spend, even after signing defensive tackle David Onyemata and trading for New England Patriots tight end Jonnu Smith.

Should Atlanta let McGary walk, the chances of the team drafting a tackle with its No. 8 pick grows significantly.
