2023 NFL Draft: Jets Keep Building the Trenches with Round 4 Choice
The New York Jets made it three straight selections on the lines at the 2023 National Football League Draft.
Picking eight spots later than initially scheduled in Round 4, after trading the No. 112 pick to the New England Patriots, Gang Green drafted Pittsburgh offensive tackle Carter Warren at No. 120 overall.
Warren was the Jets' first selection on Day 3. General manager Joe Douglas and Co. drafted Iowa State defensive end Will McDonald on Day 1 followed by Wisconsin center Joe Tippmann on Day 2.
The 6-foot-5 Warren made a name for himself during the 2021 campaign, starting all 14 games for Pitt at left tackle. He earned a spot on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team for his efforts.
The Garden State-born bookend kicked off 2022 by logging four starts at his customary left tackle position, but he missed the remainder of the season due to an undisclosed injury.
Warren totaled 40 appearances (39 starts) during his Pitt tenure, which began as a redshirt freshman in 2017 after starring at New Jersey's Passaic Tech High School.
The 24-year old tackle recorded massive measurements with 35.25-inch arm length and an 85-inch wingspan.
NFL Draft Bible Excerpt: "The gritty Warren is a veteran offensive lineman with a quick kick slide and excellent arm length, but his lack of athleticism in space and struggles as a run blocker suggest he’s in for a bumpy ride at the NFL level. He’s a four-year starter with more than 2,700 career offensive snaps who saw his 2022 season cut short by an undisclosed injury."
