JETS' 2023 OFFSEASON OVERVIEW

The New York Jets entered the 2023 National Football League offseason with 19 pending unrestricted free agents, six selections in the NFL Draft and a moderate need space for salary cap space. 

With the new league year kicking off at 4:00 pm ET on March 15, track Gang Green's personnel moves throughout the NFL Free Agency Frenzy right here.

Gang Green agreed to a one-year free-agent contract safety Adrian Amos, who made 66 consecutive starts for the Packers over the last four seasons.

Jets Send Safety Will Parks Packing

The Green & White released seven-year veteran Will Parks, who saw most of his action last year on special teams.

Jets Add Former Patriots' Third-Round Pick Yodny Cajuste

Two weeks after being released by New England, the offensive tackle agreed to join Gang Green.

Big Al Woods' Signing Gives Gang Green Battle-Tested Road Block

Veteran Al Woods, a 12-year pro, is signing a one-year contract with the Jets. The 6-foot-4 defensive tackle started 30 of a possible 34 games over the last two seasons in Seattle. 

Cobb Becomes Latest Former Packer to join Rodgers in Green & White

Gang Green is signing Cobb to a one-year contract, a move first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 32-year old veteran has spent 10 of his 12 NFL seasons with the Packers.

No Fifth-Year Option for Bookend Mekhi Becton

The 2023 season will be a contract year for the 6-foot-7 Becton. The Jets declined to pick up the fifth-year option on the offensive tackle's rookie deal.

Jets Welcome Former Packer Billy Turner to the Neighborhood

Turner, who has the versatility to compete at guard and tackle, played eight games (7 starts) last year for the Denver Broncos under head coach Nathaniel Hackett. Prior to joining the Broncos, the 6-foot-5 Turner spent three straight seasons as a Green Bay Packer. 

DRAFT: Gang Green Lands Physical Unicorn in Round 7

The Green & White used the No. 220 overall pick on Old Dominion tight end Zack Kuntz. The 6-foot-7 Kuntz compiled the highest @NextGenStats "Athleticism" score (94) of the entire tight end group at the 2023 NFL Combine.

DRAFT: Jets Add Defensive Back with Second Round 6 Selection 

LSU product Jarrick Bernard-Converse went to Gang Green in the bottom half of Round 6 at No. 204 overall. The selection was acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders earlier in the day. 

DRAFT: Back to Defense, Jets Select Zaire Barnes in Round 6

Western Michigan linebacker Zaire Barnes was the first of Gang Green's two sixth-round draft choices, going off the board at No. 184 overall. Barnes ended his WMU career by earning back-to-back All-Mid-American Conference selections, making 25 appearances over the past two years. 

DRAFT: Joe Douglas Keeps Running Back Streak Intact with Round 5 Pick

Drafting a ball carrier in the Top 150 for the fourth year in a row, the Jets chose Pittsburgh's Israel Abanikanda early in Round 5 with the No. 143 overall pick. Abanikanda averaged 5.6 yards per carry over 30 career games with Pitt.

DRAFT: Jets Keep Building the Trenches with Round 4 Choice

Picking eight spots later than initially scheduled in Round 4, after trading the No. 112 pick to the New England Patriots, Gang Green drafted Pittsburgh offensive tackle Carter Warren at No. 120 overall. The 6-foot-5 Warren was the Jets' first selection on Day 3.

DRAFT: Gang Green Goes with 'Big Joe' Tippmann in Round 2

The Jets chose Wisconsin center Joe Tippmann at No. 43 overall in the 2023 National Football League Draft. The 6-foot-6 Tippmann, who was projected as a Round 2 pick, was ranked as a top-two center in the draft class with some arguing for Minnesota's John Michael Schmitz.

DRAFT: Jets Bolster Defensive Pass Rush in Round 1

Iowa State edge rusher Will McDonald IV was the pick at No. 15 overall. The battle-tested McDonald spent five years with the Cyclones, establishing himself as one of the top performers in the Big 12 Conference.

Gang Green Extends Veteran Specialist on an Ironman Streak

Seventh-year pro Thomas Hennessy inked a four-year contract extension. The former Duke product is currently the longest-tenured Jet on the roster.

Jets and Packers Finalizing Aaron Rodgers Trade 

The New York Jets and Green Bay Packers have agreed on a trade deal that brings superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to town. There are six total draft picks changing hands as a result of the move.

McGovern Makes His Way Home to Gang Green

After testing the market, Connor McGovern has re-signed with the Jets. The 30-year old center has played in 48 of a possible 50 games in three seasons with Gang Green.

Former Bengals’ First-Round Pick Re-signs with Jets

Gang Green welcomed Cedric Ogbuehi back into the fold for 2023. The reserve tackle started five games after the Jets claimed him off the Houston Texans’ Practice Squad late last September.

Three Things We Learned as Jets Opened Off-season Program

The New York Jets are back in action at the team facility, but there's still plenty of time before the pads start popping again. The National Football League's regulated off-season program officially kicked off for Gang Green on April 17. The team announced the release of punter Braden Mann on Thursday. The move paves the way for recently-signed veteran Thomas Morstead to re-claim the starting punter role with Gang Green

Veteran QB Tim Boyle Joining Jets for 2023

Boyle has appeared in 17 regular season games during four seasons on an active NFL roster. He spent the 2019 and 2020 season with the Green Bay Packers.

Falcons Cancel Calais Campbell's Scheduled Jets' Visit

Atlanta agreed to a one-year contract with the free agent defensive lineman, who was being targeted by Gang Green.

Saleh Dismisses Potential Ezekiel Elliott Pursuit

Gang Green's third-year head coach endorsed the team's current collection of ball carriers, saying "We love our running back room. I'll leave it at that."

Back to Secondary Status for Zach Wilson

Saleh said the former No. 2 overall draft pick is the team's No. 2 quarterback heading into 2023.

Backup RB Ty Johnson's Back

Johnson, who initially entered the NFL in 2019 as a Detroit Lions’ sixth-round draft pick, provides needed insurance for the Jets’ backfield.

Jets Make 'Moore' News, Trade WR to Browns

Wide receiver Elijah Moore has been traded to the Cleveland Browns for the No. 42 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. In addition to Moore, the Browns are also reportedly receiving Gang Green's third-round pick (No. 74 overall).

Two-time Super Bowl Champion WR Inks FA Deal

After playing his entire rookie contract with Kansas City, speedy receiver Mecole Hardman is joining Gang Green on a free-agent contract. The 5-foot-10 Hardman, who doubles as a kick returner, saw his production dip due to injury in 2022.

Trystan Colon On Move from Ravens to Jets

The Jets picked up a potential depth piece for their offensive line, reportedly signing Colon who was non-tendered by the Ravens.

Punter Thomas Morstead Tweets He's Rejoining Jets

The 14-year NFL veteran, who spent a portion of the 2021 season with Gang Green, has reportedly reached an agreement to return for a second stint in New York.

Jets Add Versatile OL Wes Schweitzer; RFA Adam Pankey Returns

The 6-foot-4 Schweitzer, who spent the last three years in Washington, has started 60 of his 80 career appearances. He has taken snaps at all five offensive line positions as a pro.

DE Bryce Huff Receives Second-Round Tender

The Jets offered Huff, a restricted free agent, a second-round tender that is worth $4.304 million. Meanwhile, non-tendered WR Jeff Smith (Giants) and RB James Robinson (Patriots) have new teams.

Rotational DL Solomon Thomas Re-signs

The interior lineman, who initially joined the Jets on a one-year free agent deal last offseason after spending the 2021 campaign with the Las Vegas Raiders, returns to Gang Green for the 2023 season. 

DT Sheldon Rankins Leaving Gang Green for Houston

The free agent nose tackle signed with the Houston Texans following two seasons as a Jet. The deal is reportedly for one year at $10.5 million.

Free Agent G Nate Herbig Heads to AFC North

Herbig, who made 11 starts on an injury-ravaged Jets offensive line in 2022, has inked a two-year contract reportedly worth $8 million with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jets Lure WR Allan Lazard from Green Bay

After leading Green Bay in receiving last season, the 6-foot-5 Lazard is joining Gang Green on a four-year contract reportedly worth $44 million.

Gang Green Keeps UFA LB Quincy Williams

The veteran linebacker has signed a three-year deal that will reportedly pay him $18 million to stay with New York. Williams, who was claimed by the Jets off waivers prior to the 2021 regular season, is the older brother of Jets' All-Pro defensive lineman Quinnen Williams.

Veteran Kicker Greg Zuerlein Signs for Second Season with Jets

The 34-year old Zuerlein would have been an unrestricted free agent, but he accepted a reported one-year offer worth $2.6 million. Also known as Leg-a-tron, the 11-year NFL veteran beat out Eddie Pineiro for the starting job during the 2022 NFL Preseason and proceeded to kick in all 17 regular season contests.

Veteran OT Duane Brown Reportedly Returning in 2023

Per ESPN's Rich Cimini, Brown intends to play for the team that signed him to a two-year deal prior to the 2022 regular season. After a preseason injury sidelined the bookend for the Jets’ first four games, the soon-to-be 38-year old tackle proceeded to make 12 straight starts while playing through pain.
