Jets and Packers Finalizing Aaron Rodgers Trade
It's happening (finally).
The New York Jets and Green Bay Packers have agreed on a trade deal that brings superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to town.
According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jets are acquiring Rodgers and two 2023 draft selections in exchange for a four-pick package that goes to the Packers.
Essentially, the Jets and Packers are swapping 2023 first-round picks while Gang Green also gets Rodgers and Green Bay's 2023 fifth-rounder.
The Packers' haul features the No. 13, No. 42 and No. 207 overall selections in the 2023 NFL Draft along with a conditional 2024 pick (second-rounder that becomes a first-rounder if Rodgers plays a certain percentage of snaps in 2023).
Even at 39 years old, Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, instantly upgrades the Jets' offense. He has averaged 37 touchdown passes per campaign over the past three years. Meanwhile, Zach Wilson has thrown only 15 scoring strikes in 22 career games.
The trade reunites Rodgers with current Jets' offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and recently-signed receiver Allen Lazard from their time together in Green Bay
In three seasons working with Hackett, who served as the Packers' OC from 2019-21, Rodgers threw 111 touchdown passes to only 13 interceptions and the Packers averaged 13 regular season wins per year.
Playing with Rodgers in 2022, Lazard led all Green Bay pass-catchers in receptions (60) and receiving yards (788).
