Apparently, his visit went well.

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported that Yodny Cajuste made an official free-agent visit to the New York Jets on May 23. One week later, the offensive tackle signed with the Green & White.

In addition to inking Cajuste, the Jets announced the release of offensive lineman Eric Smith in a corresponding roster move on Tuesday.

New England cut the 6-foot-5 Cajuste on May 18, ending his four-year tenure with the organization that made the West Virginia product the No. 101 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. He appeared in 17 games, highlighted by five starts, over the past two seasons with the Pats.

The 27-year old Cajuste is someone who can compete for a reserve role at tackle, but his path to a 53-man roster spot with Gang Green is narrow at best.

Prior to his signing, the Jets already had six true offensive tackles on their current 90-man roster.

Longtime veteran Duane Brown leads a group that includes Mekhi Becton, 2022 draft pick Max Mitchell, recently-signed free agent Billy Turner, 2023 fourth-rounder Carter Warren and Wagner College's Greg Senat.

Then, there's Alijah Vera-Tucker, who has shown ability to play tackle, but will likely concentrate on guard for the near future.

Cajuste has lacked consistent availability since entering the league. The 2019 draft pick did not see regular season game action until 2021 and has served multiple stints on Injured Reserve and the non-football injury list.

Cajuste, who hails from South Florida, has totaled only 278 snaps on offense during 17 career NFL regular season appearances.

With OTAs kicking back up following the Memorial Day Weekend, Cajuste is the second offensive linemen to change AFC East teams in the past two days. The Buffalo Bills reportedly agreed to terms with former Miami Dolphin Brandon Shell.
