Buffalo Bills Safety Micah Hyde Explores Possibility of Aaron Rodgers Joining the Jets
Micah Hyde called it “dangerous.”
Appearing as a guest host on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, the Buffalo Bills veteran safety spoke about the possibility of Aaron Rodgers quarterbacking the AFC East rival New York Jets during the 2023 season.
Hyde offers a unique perspective on the situation because he played his entire four-year rookie contract (2013-16) as a teammate of Rodgers in Green Bay.
“Playing against him is going to be tough,” said Hyde, who was not available for the Bills in last year’s two meetings with the Jets due to a season-ending injury sustained in Week 2.
“When Aaron Rodgers steps in that locker room with the Jets, if it happens, he’s going to give that whole team confidence,” explained the two-time All-Pro safety. “They’re all going to get better because of it.”
Hyde then shared a quick assessment of the current state of the Jets, who held the Bills way under their season scoring average during both head-to-head meetings in 2022.
“Defensively, they’re a very good team and they have weapons on offense, so once he steps in the room, it’s going to give all of them confidence. That’s a dangerous thing,” said Hyde.
The Bills, who went 13-3 last year, have won three consecutive AFC East titles and have made the playoffs five times during Hyde's six seasons in Buffalo.
Meanwhile, the Jets were responsible for one of Buffalo’s three regular season losses last fall.
Gang Green posted a 20-17 home win over the Bills in Week 9.
In the road meeting five weeks later, the Jets limited Bills quarterback Josh Allen to only 147 pass yards but suffered a 20-12 defeat.
