Mock Draft Monday: Serritella Predicts Jets Will Take Two-Time National Champion in First Round
A top-tier offensive tackle will likely be available when the New York Jets make their first selection in the 2023 National Football League Draft and one particular draftnik believes they will jump at the chance to secure a bookend.
In his latest post-Combine mock draft, NFL Draft Bible’s Ric Serritella projected Georgia’s Broderick Jones to the Jets at No. 13 overall.
Ohio State’s Paris Johnson, Jr. is the first tackle off Serritella's board, going to the Tennessee Titans at No. 11 overall.
The mock-up has the New England Patriots landing Northwestern tackle Peter Skoronski one selection after the Jets pick.
13. New York Jets: OT Broderick Jones, Georgia
"The Jets offensive line was ravaged by injuries, which resulted in a patchwork unit. Adding Jones would immediately provide stability."
Jones was rock solid for Georgia throughout its latest National Championship run.
After winning the starting job during the 2021 campaign, Jones started all 15 games at left tackle during the Bulldogs’ undefeated 2022 season.
The 6-foot-5 blindside protector posted the second-highest @NextGenStats “athleticism” score (85) amongst offensive tackle participants at the 2023 NFL Combine. Jones ran the fastest 40-yard dash (4.97) of the entire offensive line group.
Jones, who weighed in at 311 pounds, boasts ideal arm length (34.75”) for an NFL offensive tackle.
There will be a total of 259 selections made during the three-day NFL Draft in Kansas City (April 27-29).
The Jets own six total picks, one in each of the first six rounds. Gang Green was not awarded any compensatory draft picks this year.
