Jets Down Two Offensive Linemen, Catch Break with Dolphins' Hill Inactive
Two men who have earned starts on the right side of the offensive line are not available for the New York Jets on Sunday.
Fourth-round rookie right tackle Carter Warren and second-year tackle/guard Max Mitchell are officially inactive for the Jets' Week 15 road game against the Miami Dolphins. Warren, who was doubtful to play, will miss his second straight game as he deals with a hip issue. Mitchell, who left last week's win early due to a stinger, carried a questionable tag prior to landing amongst the team's seven gameday inactives.
The pair's absence means veteran Billy Turner will likely start at right tackle. The right guard could be either Jake Hanson or Xavier Newman.
Undrafted rookie receiver Jason Brownlee, who was ruled out on Friday, remained amongst the ranks of the inactives for another week as the result of a lingering ankle injury. On defense, backup cornerback Bryce Hall is a healthy scratch as is veteran defensive end Carl Lawson. The 28-year-old Lawson has not dressed since November 12 in Las Vegas.
Linebacker Marcelino McCray-Ball, a gameday elevation from the Practice Squad, and emergency quarterback Brett Rypien round out the Jets' list of scratches.
Miami's Tyreek Hill, the NFL's leading receiver, is inactive after not practicing this past week due to an ankle injury sustained in Monday night's loss to Tennessee. Hill went for 102 yards and one touchdown on nine catches in the 34-13 victory over New York on November 24.
The Dolphins will also be without right guard Robert Hunt and safety Jevon Holland. Dolphins' rookie running back De'Von Achane is up for the December 17 divisional battle. He did not appear in the Black Friday Game.
