Aaron Rodgers Brings The Boys to Las Vegas for Golf and More
New York Jets' quarterback Aaron Rodgers is taking care of the men responsible for protecting him in the pocket.
The 40-year-old field general, who is on the rebound from Achilles surgery, seemingly sponsored a trip to Las Vegas for 11 offensive linemen who logged snaps for the 2023 Jets.
Rodgers and the 11 linemen comprised a group that attended the Vegas Golden Knights' NHL game on January 20. The party included everyone from fourth-round rookie Carter Warren to reserve guard Chris Glaser. In a suite at Saturday night's game between the Golden Knights and the Pittsburgh Penguins, the 12 teammates posed for a photograph that veteran Wes Schweitzer posted to his Instagram story.
Rodgers was front and center in the photo holding a personalized No. 8 Golden Knights hockey sweater. Pending free agent tackle Mekhi Becton, center Connor McGovern, second-round rookie Joe Tippmann, Max Mitchell, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Xavier Newman, Dennis Kelly and Jake Hanson were all present.
Earlier on the trip, the group played a round of golf at the prestigious Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas. After taking a photo with McGovern, Glaser and Mitchell at Hole No. 17, Rodgers nailed a hole-in-one moments later. The quarterback posted the photo to his Instagram feed while McGovern shared video proof of Rodgers achieving the difficult feat.
It's not the first time Rodgers has used recreation time to enjoy arts and entertainment with teammates. Last spring, he attended NBA and NHL Playoff games as well as multiple Broadway productions. The former Jeopardy host was also spotted at MetLife Stadium, enjoying multiple performances of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour.
When it comes to golf, Rodgers has consistently participated in the annual American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. Taking on fellow celebrities, the four-time NFL MVP finished fifth overall last summer. NBA star Steph Curry topped the leaderboard.
Rodgers claimed that the round at Shadow Creek marked his first time out on the course since undergoing Achilles repair surgery in September.
Meanwhile, the group that accompanied Rodgers to Las Vegas likely won't remain intact much longer. This iteration of the Jets' offensive line will almost definitely undergo multiple changes during the upcoming offseason. After declining to exercise his fifth-year option, the team may let Becton walk. McGovern, who ended the season on Injured Reserve, will also be a free agent. Vera-Tucker is under contract but is recovering from an Achilles rupture.
New York could opt to use the No. 10 overall draft pick on an offensive tackle should a highly-rated prospect like Notre Dame's Joe Alt and Penn State's Olu Fashanu be available.
