Betting on Jets to End NFL Playoff Drought?
If one team is going to do it this season, it'll be the New York Jets.
NFL media personality Adam Schein sees a possible end to Gang Green's playoff drought in 2023.
Identifying "five teams that haven't made the playoffs in at least half a decade," Schein ordered the members of the quintet "from most to least likely" to qualify for the postseason.
He tabbed the Jets as the team with "the best chance to end the dry spell," slotting Robert Saleh's club atop the rankings.
The Green & White, who have not qualified for the NFL Postseason since 2010, enter the 2023 campaign carrying the longest active postseason drought in all of major North American team sports.
Since Gang Green landed future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Schein, who hosts a SiriusXM Radio show, has been outspoken in his optimism for the franchise. In the spring, shortly after scoring an exclusive interview with Rodgers, he projected the Jets to make the Super Bowl in an article written for NFL.com.
From "Which NFL team is most likely to end long playoff drought in 2023 season?":
1. New York Jets
Last playoff season: 2010
"New York hasn't reached the postseason since Barack Obama's first term as president. Yup, it's been quite a dry spell. But now, with a highly decorated pilot in the cockpit, these Jets are ready for takeoff.
Back in May, I had a wonderful conversation with Aaron Rodgers on my SiriusXM Radio show, "Schein on Sports." It's pretty clear the Jets quarterback understands his assignment. .... The AFC looks like an absolute beast, but New York has the roster to compete.
At 39 years old, Rodgers is no spring chicken. But don't mistake his age for an expiration date. Rodgers is rejuvenated, with a chip on his shoulder to prove he can win outside of Green Bay. He can still spin it, and, most importantly, he's a gargantuan upgrade over what the Jets had at the position last season. ...
Defensively, New York finished last season ranked fourth in scoring defense and total D. ... Robert Saleh has assembled a bevy of talented players on all three levels who fit his scheme.
The interminable playoff drought will come to an end in the coming season. I guarantee it. And don't be surprised if the Jets ultimately hit the Super Bowl for the first time in 55 years."
— Adam Schein
The Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers followed Gang Green on the list of potential turnaround teams.
The oddsmakers see the Jets as a legitimate playoff contender, too, slightly favoring Gang Green to qualify for the seven-team AFC tournament. "Yes" bettors face -130 odds while "No" is currently set at +110 on DraftKings Sportsbook (NJ).
In terms of the AFC East race, SI Sportsbook places the Jets as the second most-likely squad to win the division. At +225, the Green & White sit behind only the reigning three-time champion Buffalo Bills (+125).
