Jets' Free-Agent WR Addition Sidelined Tuesday
Allen Lazard was a non-participant during the New York Jets' first padded training camp practice.
The veteran receiver, who signed a four-year free-agent deal reportedly worth $44 million in March, was spotted with a sleeve covering his left leg on Tuesday. Lazard's injury is far from serious according to third-year head coach Robert Saleh.
"He's dealing with some muscle tightness, so we're just holding him back until he gets better," said Saleh while addressing reporters after the team's fifth preseason practice.
Having made a couple notable receptions during the weekend sessions, Lazard was fitting in nicely as expected due to his familiarity with Aaron Rodgers and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
Lazard, an undrafted free-agent signing by the Green Bay Packers in 2018, has spent his entire pro career with Rodgers as his quarterback.
"I'm pretty much a Teacher Assistant as this point," said the 6-foot-5 Lazard from the podium following the first practice of camp. "I've been very fortunate in my career, which is extremely rare what I've realized, to be able to stay in the same system with the same language with the same quarterback. I'm pretty fluent."

The 27-year-old Lazard, who has 14 TD catches over his past 30 games, led the Packers in receptions (60) and receiving yards (788) last season.
"Allen [Lazard] has helped tremendously, just the way he's goes about being in the meeting room and being out on the field makes it easier on me because he's gonna share the knowledge," said second-year pro Garrett Wilson.
