Good News for Healthy Breece Hall Heading to Denver
The training wheels are off just in time for the starting running back's return to Denver.
It has been a little more than 11 months since Breece Hall suffered a season-ending ACL tear at Mile High Stadium.
"I'm still not even a year removed from my injury yet, only nine or 10 months from surgery. I'm honestly just blessed to be back on the field and really being able to play good football again," said Hall.
After a remarkably quick recovery from surgery, the New York Jets' lead ball carrier heads back to the site of his injury for an important Week 5 road game.
"It's just another football game to me. It's not that big of a deal," said Hall after Wednesday's practice.
With the Jets needing to slam the brakes on a three-game slide, they now have a fully-healthy Hall at the forefront of their arsenal. According to head coach Robert Saleh, all injury-related limitations have been lifted.
"From an opportunity standpoint, there is no pitch count with him anymore," said Saleh on Wednesday in Florham Park.
The team had been easing Hall back to action with the second-year pro beginning training camp on the physically unable to perform list. He was activated off PUP on August 15 but saw no subsequent preseason game reps.
"I think the hardest part of me coming back was early in training camp. You deal with back-to-back practices and stuff, a lot of knee soreness. Now, I'm just able to go out there and be myself every day," said Hall.

The 22-year-old running back has already shown his patented explosion this season despite receiving a limited number of opportunities through the first four weeks. Averaging 6.6 yards per rush attempt, he has accounted for three monster runs.
Hall's first play from scrimmage went for 26 yards against Buffalo. He added an 83-yard burst later in the eventual 22-16 win. This past Sunday, the 2022 second-round draft pick flipped the field with a 43-yard gain against Kansas City.
"He ran violently last week in practice, and I felt like it carried over in the game. You can tell he’s starting to get his legs underneath him," said Saleh.
Sharing reps with Dalvin Cook and, to a lesser extent, Michael Carter, Hall has played only 90 snaps over four appearances. Averaging nine touches per outing, he's totaled 210 rush yards on 32 carries.
"We would love to get him going, but at the same time, we’ve got a lot of guys that we want to get the ball to," said Saleh. "We got some guys, we just got to find a way to distribute the ball in a way that is best for the team and making sure that we’re scoring points."
Hall was ascending heading into last year's road date with the Broncos. He opened the game's scoring with a 62-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter of the Jets' eventual 16-7 victory. Prior to the injury, Hall piled up 681 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns on 99 touches in 6.5 games as a rookie.
"Even though he’s had production, he still hasn’t reached what we know he’s capable of and what he’s shown in the past, but he is another one that’s trending in the right direction," said Saleh.
