Jets Are Betting Favorite for First Time in First Seven Games
The odds have opened in the New York Jets' favor for the first time this season.
Coming off their bye week, the Jets are a 3.0-point "road" favorite over the New York Giants ahead of the October 29 battle that will kick off 1:00 pm ET at MetLife Stadium. It's new territory for Gang Green, which owned underdog status for all of its prior six games.
Despite being a 6.5-point betting underdog, the Jets posted an outright victory over the reigning NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6. Gang Green is 4-2 against the spread this season with the two losses coming to Dallas and New England in Weeks 2 and 3.
While the Jets (3-3) were idle, the Giants (2-5) hung on for a 14-7 victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 7. Big Blue has allowed a total of 21 points the past two weeks.
With Giants' starting quarterback Daniel Jones nursing a neck injury, it's unknown whether or not veteran Tyrod Taylor will make a third straight start.
The Jets posted a 32-24 victory in the annual preseason meeting between the two local rivals on August 26. The game became a topic of national conversation due to Randall Cobb's illegal blindside block and the subsequent dust-up between Aaron Rodgers and Giants' defender Jihad Ward.
Those bettors looking to back the Jets on the money line must lay -167 odds. The Giants offer a +138 possible payout. The point total (over/under) opened at 35.5 according to SI Sportsbook.
