Jets' Saleh Delivers Good Injury News for Four Starters on Monday
Four New York Jets' starters left the game after getting banged up against the Dallas Cowboys in the Week 2 loss at AT&T Stadium, but all have seemingly avoided serious injury.
"Real quick, injury-wise, Tony Adams is dealing with a hamstring. [Slot cornerback] Michael Carter could have come back in, but we held him out, and Quincy’s [Williams] being evaluated for a knee [injury]," said Jets' third-year head coach Robert Saleh during Sunday's postgame press conference.
As it turns out, Saleh was able to provide positive updates about the aforementioned trio along with top receiver Garrett Wilson on late Monday afternoon. Still, the head coach stopped short of deeming the three defensive starters ready to return.
"So, from the game yesterday, Tony Adams, further evaluation over the next 24 hours. Quincy, same thing. We're going to continue to evaluate him over the next 24 hours. Same with Michael Carter II. Garrett Wilson's fine. He's cleared," said Saleh from the podium in Florham Park.
Carter nicked up his elbow during the second quarter of the 30-10 loss and never returned.
Adams gingerly jogged off with 6:37 remaining in the first half following a Cowboys' 20-yard completion to CeeDee Lamb. The Jets' free safety made the tackle on his last play of the day. He was on the field for 32 snaps prior to leaving.
Williams went down late in the game on the last snap prior to the 2:00 warning. The linebacker was covering tight end Jake Ferguson on a six-yard reception when he tweaked his knee.
"I think they already have [performed an MRI on Williams's knee]. Everything looks good. Just want to make sure everything's good over the next 24 hours with how they feel and all that stuff," said Saleh during Monday's virtual Q&A session with media. "Not really concerned about any of them. Again, it's just not trying to put a timetable on availability just in case something changes over the next 24 hours."
Wilson went to the locker-room with 3:07 left in the game after taking a hit over the middle and drawing a defensive pass interference penalty for his efforts. After the game, Saleh said the Jets' WR1 "had the wind knocked out of him." Wilson, who made two receptions for 83 yards and the team's lone touchdown, seemed fine while speaking with reporters at his locker following the game.
