Jeremy Ruckert's promising preseason has been temporarily interrupted.

The New York Jets' second-year tight end did not participate in Tuesday's training camp practice, which was open to media.

Ruckert apparently suffered a shoulder injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, but head coach Robert Saleh did not provide an update at today's post-practice presser in Florham Park.

"Ruckert was the only one with an AC joint," said Saleh on Saturday when asked about injuries after the team's second exhibition of the summer. "I don't want to say optimistic, I’m always optimistic."

The 6-foot-5 Ruckert, who hails from Long Island and is the son of a lifelong diehard Jets' fan, pulled in one of two targets for seven yards in Gang Green's 27-0 road victory over the Panthers. He totaled 15 offensive snaps before exiting.

On the rebound after battling plantar fasciitis throughout his rookie campaign,  Ruckert, who turned 23 years old on August 11, has been making notable plays in practice since OTAs.

"I'm physically more comfortable, mentally more comfortable. I'm just having so much more fun this year than I was last year," said Ruckert on August 6.
