Jets Ex Braylon Edwards 'Saves The Life' Of 80-Year Man In Beating
Former NFL wide receiver Braylon Edwards is being credited with saving an 80-year-old man from an attack in a YMCA locker room.
“He grabbed the back of the victim’s head by the hair and he was about to slam it down on the counter,” Edwards said of what he saw after he entered the locker room in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where it appeared a 25-year-old man was beating the older man. “I grabbed him and subdued him.”
Edwards, 41, was the 2004 Biletnikoff Award winner at the University of Michigan before coming to the NFL, initially as a first-round pick (third overall) of the Cleveland Browns. He was a star there before moving to the New York Jets via trade, and in New York had two quality seasons here. He later played for the Niners and the Seahawks before signing once more for a short time with the Jets in 2013.
Edwards, who played at 6-3 and 215 pounds, said he heard some commotion in the locker room, possibly regarding the volume of the music being played.

He said he interceded only after he heard a “thud” that caused him to believe someone was fighting ... at which time he allegedly saw the altercation and broken it up.
Edwards said that a law enforcement official told him later that he likely saved the man’s life.
The 25-year-old man was taken into police custody. The 80-year-old man was in the hospital but is expected to recover.
