Another Jets' Coach Leaves; Hired By Falcons
Some felt the New York Jets needed major coaching changes following a second straight 7-10 campaign.
They are certainly getting their wish.
Assistant head coach Rob Dadona is leaving New York to join Raheem Morris' staff in Atlanta as the manager of coaching operations for the Falcons. ESPN's Rich Cimini was first on the news.
Dadona, one of the first hires for Jets head coach Robert Saleh in 2021, is one of the last few staff members from the head coach's original staff in New York. Only tight-end coach Ron Middleton is left as the lone holdover. Steve Scarnecchia also left the Jets for Atlanta in January. Scarnecchia was the team's Chief of Staff but left for the same role with the Falcons.
Dadona marks the third coaching change the Jets will have to fill from this week. Quarterback coach Rob Calabrese left for an assistant job with the Los Angeles Rams, while offensive assistant Mack Brown left for the Seattle Seahawks.
In total, seven of New York's offensive assistants are leaving the organization this year.
Jets Concern Over Coaching, Front Office Exodus?
While this isn't a true sign of "rats trying to leave a sinking ship" as many have tried to describe it, the Jets are behind the eight-ball in filling some of these assistant positions.
With the Scouting Combine set to begin next week, and Robert Saleh not attending in Indianapolis, the Jets will focus on filling their positions along the staff while also trying to stay ahead in the scouting and free agent process.
