New York Jets Tabbed to Host Inaugural NFL Black Friday Game
The New York Jets will make history on the 2023 National Football League schedule.
The League announced that Gang Green will host the Miami Dolphins in the first-ever NFL Black Friday game presented by Prime Video.
The two AFC East Division rivals will clash on November 24 at MetLife Stadium with kickoff slated for 3:00 pm ET.
According to the NFL, viewers will not need an Amazon Prime subscription to access the live stream.
"As previously announced, Prime Video will kick off the 2023 holiday season with an early present for NFL fans, providing free access to this unprecedented NFL event -- even to those without a Prime membership," said the League in its announcement on Wednesday morning.
The Jets and the Dolphins split their home-and-home series in 2022 with the former taking the first meeting by a 40-17 score in Week 5 at MetLife Stadium. Miami returned the favor in Week 18, winning, 11-6, and sending the Jets to their six straight loss to end the season. Neither matchup was played in primetime and Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who battled head injuries throughout the season, was inactive for both meetings.
Gang Green will see some familiar faces when matching up against the Dolphins in 2023. Former Jets' backup quarterback Mike White and guard Dan Feeney signed free-agent deals with Miami this past March. Meanwhile, Miami inked Braxton Berrios after the receiver/returner was released by the Green & White as a salary cap casualty.
With the arrival of future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, coupled with the power of the New York media market, the Jets should expect to receive more standalone primetime games when the NFL releases the 2023 schedule in its entirety on May 11 at 8:00 PM ET.
Based upon a television network source, Jets Country expects Gang Green to face the New York Giants in the Monday Night Football opener. A primetime matchup with the Buffalo Bills is also reportedly in the cards.
