The New York Jets were forced to part with multiple valuable assets on NFL cutdown day.

Paring the training camp roster down to 53 men to meet the league-imposed deadline, general manager Joe Douglas and Co. ultimately cut players who possess either noteworthy professional experience or promising potential.

After being waived, two former Jets landed on a 53-man roster by being claimed other teams. The Arizona Cardinals added interior offensive lineman Trystan Colon and the Carolina Panthers, who likely gained interest during their joint practice in early August, picked up undrafted rookie linebacker Claudin Cherelus.

Thus far, five Jets' cuts have proceeded to sign Practice Squad (PS) deals with other NFL teams. Meanwhile, eleven members of the Green & White's 90-man training camp roster have rejoined the club as PS players.

Gang Green temporarily parted with veteran punter Thomas Morstead and fullback Nick Bawden in a tactic used to protect two other players from the waiver process.

After releasing Morstead and Bawden, vested veterans who are not subjected to waivers, the team used the two vacant spots to keep rookie offensive tackle Carter Warren and tight end Kenny Yeboah from being claimed by another franchise. Following the initial 53-man roster announcement, the Jets subsequently transferred Warren and Yeboah to short-term Injured Reserve (out at least four weeks) and re-signed Morstead and Bawden.

Here are status updates for all players (32) cut by the Jets in the two days prior to the deadline.
