2023 Jets Country Player Profile: LB Hamsah Nasirildeen (45)
It's Year 3 in the NFL for Hamsah Nasirildeen and the former sixth-round draft pick has an outside chance at earning the New York Jets' third linebacker spot.
The safety-turned-linebacker's pro experience on defense consists of 67 total snaps over 19 appearances. The 6-foot-3 Nasirildeen has made 14 tackles in two seasons as a Jet with nearly all of the stops coming on special teams plays.
Nasirildeen bounced back and forth between the Practice Squad and active roster throughout the 2022 campaign, playing seven games for Robert Saleh's team. His rookie campaign was interrupted by a stint on Injured Reserve.
The Florida State product went to Gang Green at No. 186 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, Jamien Sherwood, that year's fifth-round pick, is the favorite to fill the role vacated by the unsigned Kwon Alexander.
The 24-year-old Nasirildeen lined up as a safety during his time at FSU. After missing all but the final two contests of his senior season due to injury recovery, the pro prospect finished his 35-game collegiate career with 233 total tackles and four interceptions.
