The New York Jets used late-round draft capital on a versatile defensive back with experience at cornerback and safety.

"Versatility – he can play safety, he can play nickel, he can play outside," said Jets' general manager Joe Douglas following the 2023 NFL Draft. "He’s played a lot of football and obviously, the talent speaks for itself."

Bernard-Converse took meaningful snaps for two Power 5 conference programs, spending four seasons at Oklahoma State before transferring to LSU for his fifth year.

"We ran more of a pro style defense at LSU, so I feel like that can help me learn the game faster and translate over quicker. We [LSU] call ourselves DBU for a reason," said Bernard-Converse during rookie minicamp. "Right now, it’s safety, but I feel like I’m just gonna play wherever they [the coaches] see fit."

Bernard-Converse had a pair of memorable moments in 2022. He picked off a pass against Purdue in the Citrus Bowl. Earlier in the season, the ball hawk powered LSU to an overtime win over Alabama with two tackles, three passes defensed and one red-zone interception.

"He possesses excellent speed and recovery quickness. In addition, Bernard-Converse has fluid athleticism and hips, along with great smarts," per NFL Draft Bible.

The sixth-round draft pick totaled 64 appearances (56 starts) in college combining his time at OSU and LSU.
