If there was any question as to whether recently-released running back Michael Carter was popular within the New York Jets' locker-room, it was answered through multiple social media posts on Tuesday.

In the wake of the news that Carter had been cut, a number of his former Jets' teammates publicly displayed their support for the well-liked ball carrier on the social media site formerly known as Twitter.

Second-year cornerback Sauce Gardner kept his message simple. The 2022 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year reposted Adam Schefter's report of the news and included a broken heart emoji.

Starting left tackle Mekhi Becton made multiple posts about Carter, including one that said "miss him already." Like Gardner, Becton also reposted Schefter's report and added a personal touch.

"This one hurts the most I can’t even lie…," said Becton on X.

Veteran defensive end John Franklin-Myers reposted Becton's message on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Carter appears to have recently deactivated his personal X account.

The 24-year-old Carter, who made 11 starts as a rookie in 2021, was reduced to a third-down role and received only eight carries through nine games this fall. Carter, the No. 107 overall selection at the 2021 NFL Draft, totaled 39 games in two-plus seasons with the Green & White.

The Jets (4-5) released the former fourth-round draft pick two days after the team's second straight loss. Carter was part of an offense that ranks dead last amongst NFL team leaders in third down conversion rate (25.00%).
