The New York Jets found a trade partner willing to bring receiver Denzel Mims aboard.

Multiple reports of a deal with the Detroit Lions surfaced on Wednesday evening. NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo confirmed that the Jets are sending Mims and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick to the Lions in exchange for a conditional 2025 sixth-rounder.

Earlier in the day, New York Post writer Brian Costello cited sources saying Gang Green intended to cut Mims if unable to trade him.

Mims, the No. 59 overall selection in 2020, will presumably have a chance at a fresh start in Detroit. He never established a sufficient level of consistency with the Jets and failed to live up to expectations for a second-round draft choice.

The 6-foot-3 Mims, who ran a sub 4.40-second 40-yard dash at the 2020 NFL Combine, caught fewer than 46 percent of his targets over 30 career games. Only 48 passes came his way over the past two seasons.

Mims's future with the Jets appeared in jeopardy late last summer when the receiver's agent went public with a trade request. He was a gameday inactive for the first six weeks of the 2022 season and wound up catching only 11 of 25 targets over 10 appearances.
