Brian Branch Carted Off Field with Ankle Injury
Detroit Lions nickel cornerback Brian Branch has had a stellar start to his NFL career.
The ex-Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back has demonstrated an innate ability to read plays and make game-changing tackles and hits.
Unfortunately, Detroit's second-round pick was carted off the field in the second half against the Green Bay Packers.
Leading, 27-3, the Packers started the third quarter with possession.
It appeared Branch suffered a right lower-leg injury, and he gingerly walked off the field before heading to the locker room.
His return is questionable. It was reported by Lions PR that the No. 45 overall pick this past April is dealing with an ankle injury.
“He really stepped up,” Dan Campbell told reporters this week. “You could feel his energy and I’ve said this -- he gets better every practice. Every day, he gets a little bit better. The more he plays, the better he gets, and the more he understands what we’re trying to do with him. And, he’s a playmaker.”
After leaving the game, the Packers were able to take advantage. Jordan Love led Detroit's divisional rival on a touchdown drive, which cut the lead to 27-10.
Linebacker Derrick Barnes left the game on the same drive due to cramping, and is also questionable to return.
