One of Charissa Thompson's Fake Reports Was during Lions Game
Amazon Prime NFL host Charissa Thompson has been under fire for the last 24 hours, due to comments she made on the "Pardon My Take" podcast.
The former NFL sideline reporter commented casually that she had in the past made up sideline reports, if a head coach was not available or did not provide her with relevant information.
While her revelation of previously making up sideline reports was not new, several female sideline reporters took to social media to criticize what she expressed on the popular podcast.
One of the fake reports given was during a Lions telecast.
According to Sports Illustrated, "Thompson explained that in 2008, 'I was covering every Lions game because I was a baby reporter and got all the s--- games and it was the year they were 0–16 and [Detroit coach] Rod Marinelli at halftime, I was like, Oh Coach, what adjustments are you gonna make at halftime?' He goes, ‘That’s a great perfume you’re wearing.’ I was like, ‘Oh f---, this isn’t gonna work.’ I’m not kidding; I made up a report.”
While many journalists and female sideline reporters have been quite critical of Thompson, Kelly Stafford has come to her defense.
"A man makes a mistake or has his words taken out of context, his male colleagues/friends band together and support one another," Stafford posted on her social media page. "A woman does the same thing, their female colleagues/fake friends do the opposite. Feels like some ‘feminists’ seem to only choose to be feminists when it supports their agenda.”
