Grading Lions Re-Signing Veteran Offensive Lineman
The Detroit Lions have built an offensive line unit that is a significant factor contributing to their recent success.
Graham Glasgow was an integral part of the burgeoning run game and being able to protect Jared Goff, who had one of his best seasons statistically.
General manager Brad Holmes expressed following a successful 2023 season the front office would not neglect the offensive line, even though the defense has multiple areas of need.
“I mean, our offensive line, us being able to protect the quarterback and run the football like we do, that’s extremely important. And so, that’s definitely going to be one that, that’ll be an area that will not be overlooked," Holmes said at his season-ending media session. "As good as it has been in the past, just those points that you’ve raised, it’s definitely going to be a point of emphasis still.”
Lions Re-Sign Graham Glasgow
The veteran lineman indicated he wanted to return and play in Motown, but also felt he earned a significant pay raise, based on his versatility and overall play.
Glasgow finished the year with a 74.9 overall offensive grade via PFF, along with a 54.8 pass-blocking grade and an 82.1 run-block grade.
“One thing I don’t think people realize is his football IQ is as up there with anyone I’ve ever played. and for me being the center, to have someone like that right next to me has been a huge blessing," Frank Ragnow told reporters, via the team's website. "He sees things, he understands things, he sees the big picture and obviously he’s talented as a player, too.”
