Lions Bring Back Chase Lucas, Michael Badgley to Practice Squad, Lose CB
The NFL's waiver-wire period has passed, and the Lions reportedly were not granted any players from other NFL teams with less than four years of playing experience.
Chase Lucas, who was a surprise roster cut, has returned to the practice squad, along with kicker Michael Badgley.
According to NFL media, the Arizona Cardinals made a league-high six claims, and were able to secure the services of one of the Lions' camp risers.
Starling Thomas V, 23, who impressed many during his first NFL training camp, has been successfully claimed off of waivers by the Cardinals.
Thomas was an undrafted rookie who played collegiately at UAB.
During his month at camp, he rose up the depth chart, and had the opportunity to play as the third outside cornerback.
Steven Gilmore and Khalil Dorsey were able to beat out Thomas, whose play slightly diminished as camp progressed.
He was observed overly relying on his hands, regularly upsetting the Lions' receivers due to the excessive use of his hands in coverage.
Offensive lineman Connor Galvin has also been added to the practice squad.
