Lions Fans Worried about Potential December Collapse

The Lions have four games remaining in the 2023 season.

The messaging from Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell and his staff has been to have his team playing its best football in December.

Unfortunately, turnovers, critical errors, conservative offensive play-calling and questionable decision-making from Campbell and the Lions have caused supporters to begin to question what will occur the final four games of the season.

Despite the team being 9-4, supporters have seen previous Lions teams collapse on the verge of the postseason.

Against the Bears, the Lions played one of their worst games of the season. The offense, in fact, did not score a single point in the second half.

Quarterback Jared Goff again struggled with turnovers, and Aidan Hutchinson uncharacteristically gave the Bears a free play when he jumped prematurely on fourth down.

"I'm not in panic mode. I'm not losing confidence," said Campbell. "I'm not, man. We're good. We got four to go here, and all we got to do is get our discipline back and continue to fight like we fight. And, look, it wasn't our day today, man. We didn't handle it. And, when you do that to yourself against a good team, that's what happens. And, this is a good team. So, we'll clean it up and move on. That's what competitors do. That's what good teams do."

Supporters took to social media to express a wide-ranging level of concern, spanning from a minimal level to not only being nervous about a late-season collapse but expecting it.

Here is a sample of the reaction online to Detroit's disappointing loss to Chicago.
